Ambulance service personnel are nearly twice as likely as the general population to experience mental ill-health.
Family and friends often provide most of the practical and emotional support to paramedics. Therefore, they are vital to improving paramedics’ mental health and wellbeing.
The new Minds Together program by Everymind is developed in collaboration with family and friends supporting a paramedic with mental ill-health or suicidal distress. The program is online, free and self-paced and aims to provide practical ways to help family and friends:
- Strengthen their coping and communication skills
- Reduce their stress and worry
- Learn new strategies for supporting paramedics
- Connect with other people supporting paramedics.

The AFRF encourages everyone to look after their mental health and well-being and this program, targeted to the family and friends of paramedics, is an opportunity to learn and and develop practical steps to help.
